Admissions

Who is

Real school for?

We are looking for families who believe that our children need a new kind of education to equip them with skills and mindsets to thrive in a future that will change fast. Families who value respect, curiosity, kindness, empathy, and caring for our world will fit well in the school.

Just as importantly, we are looking for those who are excited to help build a community, who understand the entrepreneurial challenges of a young school and are inspired to create a diverse and positive environment.

We aim to build a culturally and socio-economically diverse community. Such a community pushes students to incorporate multiple viewpoints and experiences; it enables them to honour what is unique within themselves; and it develops the empathy, social agility, and cross-cultural competence that is essential to life in the twenty-first century.

Please note that currently we do not have staffing provision to accommodate children with special needs, severe learning differences or serious behavioural issues. As the school grows, our intention is to create a diverse community that would be a safe environment for students of all abilities, but at this stage, this is not the case.

The primary language of teaching at the REAL School is English. While the school welcomes students with all English abilities, preference is given to those with strong English skills, so they could access the learning opportunities. For students older than 8, we require that they are conversational in English, to be able to engage in projects and activities. For pupils who are 11 or above, reasonable fluency in spoken and written English is required. The School will assess English proficiency as part of the application process.

For the 2023/24 school year, the school welcomes students from ages 5 to 14. The school provides an all-through learning experience as students spend their days in multi-age groups.

As the next step, apply through our online application system and submit supporting documentation. This is pretty straightforward: basic data, schooling experience to date, any special needs or issues to be aware of, and questions on motivation for wishing to join the school. For applicants ages 11+, we also ask for a short video introduction and a personal statement.

Please note that the application fee will be invoiced following your submission.

Step 5

Meet the Founders

Following the review of the application, families are invited to meet the Founders through an online call to help establish whether the values and intentions of the School meet the expectations and values of the family. This is an important step in the process, as the community plays an essential part in the School's ethos and education process.

Step 6

Taster Day! Yay!

After the family meeting, your child would normally be invited for 3 taster days at the school, to get a feel for the learning experience and the community, as well as to assess their readiness to join REAL School.
