Who is

Real school for?

We are looking for families who believe that our kids need a new kind of education to equip children with skills and mindsets to thrive in a future that will change fast. Families who value respect, curiosity, kindness, empathy,  and caring for our world will fit well in the school.

Just as importantly, we are looking for those who are excited to help build a community, who understand the entrepreneurial challenges of a young school and are inspired to create a diverse and positive environment.

We aim to build a culturally and socio-economically diverse community. Such a community pushes students to incorporate multiple viewpoints and experiences; it enables them to honour what is unique within themselves; and it develops the empathy, social agility, and cross-cultural competence that is essential to life in the twenty-first century.

Please note that currently we do not have staffing provision to accommodate children with special needs, severe learning differences or serious behavioural issues. As the school grows, our intention is to create a diverse community that would be a safe environment for students of all abilities, but at this stage, this is not the case.

The primary language of teaching at the REAL School is English. While the school welcomes students with all English abilities, preference is given to those with strong English skills, so others could learn from them.  For students older than 9, we require that they are conversational in English, to be able to engage in projects and activities. For pupils who are above 11, reasonable fluency in spoken and written English is required. The School will assess English proficiency as part of the application process.

For the 2020/21 school year, the school welcomes students from ages 6 to 13. The school will grow with the children until they graduate high school to provide an all-through learning experience up until high school graduation.  Students spend their days in multi-age groups, which are flexible, based on your child’s need and capabilities.

How to apply

Step 1

Please get to know the school, read through the website, take the Virtual Tour, download our brochure, contact us, check out our Youtube channel, research Green School Bali as our background and inspiration,  like our Facebook page,  consult the School Calendars (for 2019/20 and 2020/21), and the Fees schedule. Please note that the minimum enrolment is for one year.

Step 2

Interest Form

We ask you to fill out the online interest form with your family's basic information and your inquiry. Our Family Ambassador (admissions officer) will get in touch with you swiftly.

Step 3

Open Day & Call

Attend an Open Day, preferably together with your child(ren), or talk with our admissions team to get to know each other better. During the COVID-19 lockdowns, we are holding online open days for interested families.

Step 4

Apply Online

As the next step, apply through our online application system and submit supporting documentation. This is pretty straightforward: basic data, schooling experience to date, any special needs or issues to be aware of, and questions on motivation for wishing to join the school. An application fee is applicable to process the documentation.

Step 5

Meet the Founders

Following the review of the application, families are invited to meet the Founders through an online call to help establish whether the values and intentions of the School meet the expectations and values of the family. This is an important step in the process, as the community plays an essential part in the School's ethos and education process.

Step 6

Trial Day! Yay!

After the family meeting, your child would normally be invited for a trial day at the school, to get a feel for the learning experience and the community. Due to the COVID-19 situation, this is currently conducted as part of our distance learning activities, online. Once physical distancing is over, we will hope to meet your child and family in person as soon as possible.

Step 7

Contract & payment

Once a formal offer of a place has been made, parents are asked to agree to the contract, and pay the registration fee to secure a place at the school.

REAL School Budapest welcomes families from diverse backgrounds who support our mission, educational philosophy, approach, and values. REAL School does not discriminate based on the basis of race, colour, national or ethnic origin, gender identity, gender expression, religion, sexual orientation, and family structure.

step 2
step 4

The school's application process is designed to give both the families and the school time and space to ensure that REAL School is the right environment for your child and family to thrive. It may seem daunting at first, so we broke it down into 7 easy steps and explain what you can expect from each one.

School fees

Being part of the REAL School family is a big decision, with many factors to consider.  An important element of this decision is the financial commitment. Please consult the Fees schedule for tuition fees, and terms and conditions for the 2020/21 school year.
